Photographing the New Paddington Afternoon Tea at Brigit’s Bakery, Covent Garden

I recently photographed the new Brigit’s Bakery collaboration celebrating the launch of the Paddington theatre show at The Savoy Theatre. The shoot took place inside the jungle-themed room at Brigit’s Bakery’s Covent Garden café, which has been transformed into a colourful, immersive world. The space is filled with playful details that capture the spirit of Paddington perfectly.

Because the room has no natural light, every image was created using the lighting I brought with me. This offered complete control over the mood and allowed me to shape the atmosphere with intention. I built up layered lighting to highlight the textures in the food, the character of the room, and of course, Paddington himself. My goal was to create images that feel warm, polished and inviting, while staying true to the theatrical styling of the space.

I always enjoy the challenge of photographing a story-driven concept like this; lighting the room, positioning the food, balancing every element in the frame, and finding the right angle to keep Paddington looking lifelike. The Paddington Afternoon Tea is full of charm and personality, and it was a pleasure to bring its visual story to life.
