Photographing Kathryn Lord of More to Organising at the Home Life & You Show, London ExCeL Centre

I recently had the chance to photograph Kathryn Lord from More to Organising at the Home Life & You Show at the London ExCeL Centre, where she was running her Kids Zone and speaking on stage. I’ve known Kat for a while, so it was great to see her in her element.

Her Kids Zone was set up with the kind of practical, child-focused thinking she’s known for. Watching families use the space made it clear how much thought she puts into making things work smoothly for both children and parents.

Kate Hall from The Full Freezer also joined the Kids Zone, reading her new children’s book, The Magic Pause Button, to the families who

dropped in.

Later in the day, I photographed Kat’s talk, where she shared down-to-earth advice about managing the flow of family life and introduced fun ideas for helping kids learn to read. She has an easy, warm way of connecting with people that draws them in, and the audience definitely responded to that.

As a photographer, it’s always enjoyable to capture someone doing work they genuinely care about, and Kat is a great example of that. I’m glad I could document a bit of what she brings to the families she supports.

My aim with event photography like this is always to capture genuine connection; the expressions and gestures, those small moments you can’t stage. Kat’s talk and her interactions with families were full of those.
